You say goodbye, and I say…

Hello! I made this super-simple card for my upline. It uses the Elizabeth stamp from the A La Carte section of our catalogue, and the sentiment is from a free Sale-a-Bration set, Elementary Elegance. The DSP is also a free offering, and the Pool Party Seam Binding is from the Occasions Mini. You only have a month left to get these SAB products, as the promotion ends on March 31!

Looking back, I would have stamped the image in a deeper blue, probably Baja Breeze or Marina Mist so that it stands out better, but I really like how simple this card is! The pearls add a special touch, but this card would look good without them also.

Playing with my mojo

The Mojo Monday sketch this week was really great, and I wanted to play along, however I had a busy week and decided to use what I had on the dining room table.

This is what I came up with:

The photo quality is poor, but the card base is Lucky Limeade, I also used Pool Party Peach Parfait and the Everyday Enchantment DSP from our Sale-a-Bration brochure. The tag is made with Very Vanilla, sponged with Soft Suede and stamped with the Fresh Vintage set.

A little home embellishment

I found an adorable little blue pillow at Ikea one day, and the first thing that popped into my head when I saw it was how good it would look, embellished with our Spice Cake fabric (which is still available, it’s on the carry-over list from the Holiday Mini!).

I started with the fabric rosettes and ruffled ribbon, but I still had some buttons sitting on the table and sometimes I have trouble knowing when to stop :) I think it turned out really well, and I will be submitting one for the Stampin’ Up! Home Decor and ‘Cute as a Button’ contests coming up in the next few months.

I sewed a line along the middle of the ribbon and ruched it, then used hot glue along the centre to stick it down. The rosettes are circles of fabric that I cut with our Big Shot dies, then sewed along the edge, gathered and sewed shut, the sewed or glued a button on top. The rosettes and individual buttons were also hot glued onto the cushion, and ‘toddler-tested’ – my 18-month old was very excited to touch this pillow!

A couple of friends of ours got married in St. Lucia in January, and last night we attended their Canadian reception to celebrate again :)

Here are some pictures from wedding #1:

It was quite windy the day of the wedding, so my hair was not quite cooperating! But the weather was beautiful, and I really enjoyed our vacation!

I didn’t take a picture of the card we gave them in St. Lucia, but I did take a picture of the one we gave last night! I also made a couple of cards for friends to give to the happy couple:

(I made the last one in a wedding version and an anniversary version, but seem to have forgotten to take a picture of the wedding one. It used the ‘Happy I Do Day’ stamp from ‘Word Play’, everything else was the same.)

The first one uses Calypso Coral and Soft Suede, and follows a sketch challenge provided on the SUDSOL website (click the button on the sidebar for more details!). The second uses a retired stamp from Stampin’ Up, called ‘Everything Nice’. It’s perfect for weddings so I’m holding on to it  :) Both use the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder.
